We’re delighted to welcome you to a relaxed Sunday afternoon and early evening with the David Skinner Trio.
The trio works deep inside the swing tradition, with a strong emphasis on improvisation, interaction, and spontaneous musical conversation. The music breathes, stretches, and takes chances, while maintaining forward motion, clarity of pulse, and a strong sense of groove.
Pianist David Arthur Skinner is widely regarded as one of Norway’s foremost jazz pianists, known for his stylistic range, from stride and classic swing to bebop and more modern forms, combined with a personal touch and an unshakeable sense of time.
On double bass, Jens Fossum brings depth, authority, and drive. A central figure on the Norwegian jazz scene, he’s known for his big sound, rock-solid time, and melodic improvising, anchoring the music while constantly pushing it forward.
Drummer Magnus Eide completes the trio with propulsion and finesse. His deep time feel and flexible, responsive approach give the music elasticity, precision, and momentum.
In this intimate trio format, every nuance of communication is audible, ideal for close listening, and for dancers who appreciate space, flow, and a clear rhythmic foundation.
As always, there will be café tables and a bar, with swing jazz DJs during the breaks. A dance floor will be ready.
